To my colleague, friend and fellow hiker from the 3rd floor, I will never forget the generous guidance and encouragement that you have given me since I joined the school several years ago. Although I wished we had done more walks and hikes ...
as well as meals together in both Taiwan and Singapore, however painful and difficult, I am honoured to have walked the last journey with you this afternoon. You may have left us in person, your spirit will always be with us at the school and in my heart. Rest in peace, Wayne.

Wayne was a fellow foodie, and we often shared restaurant recommendations, and sometimes a great meal. I remember that shortly after he arrived in Singapore he had picked up a copy of Makan Sutra (or some other local restaurant guide), and started to work through the Top 100 restaurants in Singapore. He didn't go in order ("too hard lah"), but he was rather methodical in his gastronomic pursuits, and I appreciated this, as well as his good taste.

I remember taking Wayne's Media Economics class as an undergrad in WKWSCI. The class was really small and there were less than 10 of us but Wayne was a dedicated teacher and always came to class with a smile. He went the extra mile to help us understand difficult concepts and engaged his students as equals even though he was such a brilliant man.
